Regatta Pops (2024)

August 11, 2024

In honor of the Regatta festivities, the Columbia River Symphony presents a symphonic story through exciting popular music & engaging storytelling, all alongside a visual showcase helping to bring the story home to our audiences and musicians alike. The full symphony orchestra will play popular and recognizable arrangements performed to a special story put together for this Regatta-themed concert.

This family story centers around a young boy growing up in the quaint town of Astoria, Oregon, nestled along the banks of the mighty Columbia River. Through his years of watching the boats flow past his home he built a passion for all sorts of nautical vessels. One summer, he decided to enter into the annual Regatta boat race, and the excitement of preparing for such a monumental race set him on a path to an unforgettable story. Through the various art mediums of music, story and visual presentation, enjoy the adventure of a young boy who rises to the challenges of growing up and learning about himself in the process.

*** First minute of "African Dreams" composition omitted due to technical issues. Full video clip available from our live stream.
